Red Force making steady reply to Volcanoes as regional 4-day championship bowls off

Trinidad and Tobago Red Force were 50-1 at stumps on day 1 in their first innings reply to the Windward Islands Volcanoes 243 in their opening round match of the Cricket West Indies 4-day Championship at the National Stadium in Grenada.

Darren Bravo, 32, and Jeremy Solozano, 18, were the batsmen at the crease at the close. Darrius Martin has taken the lone wicket for the Windward Islands so far.

Earlier, the Volcanoes were bowled out for 243 in 63.1 overs after being sent to bat.
 
Tevyn Walcott 87 not out and Sunil Ambris 44, were the top run getters. They were supported by Alick Athanaze 41 and Ryan John, 36 against the bowling of Bryan Charles, 4-46 and Terrence Hinds 4-72.

The Jamaica Scorpions bow into action on Wednesday when they take on the Leeward Islands Hurricanes at the Coolidge Cricket Ground.

The last time both teams met, the match ended in a draw with Paul Palmer Jr who is now deputizing as captain for Jermaine Blackwood stroked 144 not out.
