Despite picking up early morning session wickets, bottom placed Jamaica Scorpions were held up by a seventh first class from century from Leon Johnson, as the Guyana Harpy Eagles reached stumps at 268-9 on day one of their fourth round regional clash at Providence Stadium.
The Harpy Eagles were reeling at lunch at 64-4, but 35 year old Johnson who is playing in his final season, is 142 not out with 16 fours.
Tevin Imlach made 46 and Kevlon Anderson 36 against two wickets apiece for fast bowlers Marquino Mindley, Ojay Shield and Derval Green.
The Scorpions who are yet to win a match have suffered two defeats in the first three rounds. The Harpy Eagles are the current leaders of the competition.
Meanwhile, half centuries from Karima Gore, Kieran Powell and Kofi James have the Leeward Islands Hurricanes at 271-6 against second placed Windward Islands Volcanoes at Tarouba.
Gore is 87 not out and James 61 not out in a 150 run unbroken seventh wicket stand. Kieran Powell made 75.
Preston McSween and Kenneth Dember have taken two wickets each for the Volcanoes.
Defending champions Barbados Pride were 40 without loss in their first innings reply to 203 made by the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force at the Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain.
Off spinner Chaim Holder bagged 5-71 and Jair McAllister 3-31 to dismiss the Red Force. Jason Mohammed 55 and Tion Webster 46 were the best contributors for the Red Force.
