Windies keep slim hopes of qualifying for women's World Cup alive

Jamaican Chinelle Henry scored a vital half-century, as the West Indies women kept their slim hopes of qualifying for the ICC 50 over World Cup alive with a 3 wicket win over Bangladesh in their qualifying match in Lahore on Thursday. 

Set 228 to win, the Winidies got to their target for the loss of 7 wickets, thanks to Henry's unbeaten innings of 51.

Another Jamaican, Stafanie Taylor also got 36, while skipper Hayley Matthews made 33 and Qiana Joseph 31. Marufa Akter claimed 2-38 for Bangladesh.

Earlier, Bangladesh who needed to avoid defeat to secure their place to the World Cup, posted 227-9. Sharmin Akter led the way with 67, while opener Fargana Hoque made 42. Aaliyah Alleyne bagged 4-39, while there were two wickets each for Hayley Matthews and Afy Fletcher.

The Caribbean women will play their final game against Thailand on Saturday, while Bangladesh will face Pakistan the same day.

Pakistan are already through to the World Cup after achieving their fourth straight win by beating Thailand in the other game on Thursday.
