CWI to allow Rutherford and Shepherd to remain in IPL and miss England tour

Cricket West Indies has confirmed a Radio Jamaica Sports report from two days ago that batsman Sherfane Rutherford and all-rounder Romario Shepherd will be allowed to stay in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and miss the three match One Day International (ODI) series in England, while Shamar Joseph will remain in the squad.

Other than John Campbell, Shimron Hetmyer, who is currently unavailable for the Ireland leg, will join the squad for the England matches.

Left-arm medium pacer Jediah Blades who took 12 wickets, the second most in just concluded CWI Breakout League, will replace Romario Shepherd.

The West Indies series against England is set for May 29 to June 3. The IPL will resume on May 17 and run until June 12.
