Young sprinter Akeem Blake joins "Sub 10" club

20 year old sprinter Akeem Blake became the second fastest Jamaican man this season after clocking a meet record 9.92 seconds to win the 100 metre event at the American Track League meet in Nashville, Tennessee in the United States on Sunday.

Blake joins Oblique Seville as the two Jamaicans below 10 seconds so far this season.

Chrisann Gordon-Powell was also a winner at the meet taking the 800 metres in a personal best 1 minute, 59.82 seconds.

Sean Bailey took the 400 metres in a season's best 45.18 seconds just ahead of compatriot Nathon Allen 45.21.

Andrenette Knight was a second place finisher in the 400 metre hurdles in a personal best 53.39 seconds behind American Olympic champion and world record holder Sydney McLaughlin who clocked a season best and world leading 51.61 seconds.

McLaughlin's time also represents the third fastest time in the history of the event.
