As Jamaica prepares to celebrate its 61st year of Independence, the National Dance Theatre Company is gearing up for a weekend of dance performances at the Little Theatre. From August 4 to 6, dance enthusiasts and patrons of the arts will be treated to a line-up of dance pieces that not only showcase the talent of the company but also serve a noble cause.
The weekend of performances will kick off on Friday, August 4, with a benefit show aimed at advancing the education of the students of St Jago High School. This benefit show will not only celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Jamaica but also support the mission of the alumni association in nurturing future generations of talent.
The highlight of the weekend will be the Independence Day performance on August 6 at 2 p.m., where the NDTC will host a special show for children in state care. More than 300 children from various homes across the island will gather at the Little Theatre to witness the magic of dance.
