Singer Frankie Paul is dead

Jamaican dancehall reggae artiste Frankie Paul is dead.
  
The artiste, whose given name is Paul Blake, died on Thursday night at the University Hospital of the West Indies.
  
His road manager, Norman Reid, who confirmed the death on Friday morning, told RJR News Paul had been in critical condition and in intensive care at hospital after his sickness worsened late last year. 
 
In January last year, he underwent surgery to amputate a foot and part of his leg.

Olivia Grange, Minister of Culture and Entertainment, said the Jamaican entertainer inspired people with disabilities, especially the visually impaired.

In a statement on Friday, Ms Grange said he was an extremely talented artiste and musical genius whose skills earned him the title of 'Jamaica's Stevie Wonder.'
  
Ms Grange said Frankie Paul became a staple at all major local concerts and festivals including Reggae Sunsplash and Reggae Sumfest.   
 
Frankie Paul's notable works include the popular Sara and Worries in the Dance.
