Dancehall deejay Spice has shed light on her controversial new image.
In a lengthy post on her official Instagram page, she made it clear that she did not bleach her skin.
The artiste said her image, which has been widely debated across the globe, was not a publicity stunt.
She said she chose this controversial way to bring awareness to "colourism," which is something she experiences daily.
Spice added that she wanted to create shock value so that she could have the world's undivided attention to deliver the message in her music, in particular the single Black Hypocrisy.
Friday's post comes with the release of her new mixtape Captured which is already number one on both the UK and US reggae itunes chart.
