The iconic web slinger earned the title after securing more than five million average searches per month.
Spider-Man has been described as the most relatable superhero, that easily identifies with the young, normal and sometimes awkward teen, unlike popular hero Batman who has billions in the bank and lives in a mansion.
Spider-Man's life is filled of issues at school and with his family - issues many fans have experienced in their own lives.
The character is also favoured for using his talent to help others.
