The Canadian singer has reverted to his birth name, Abel Tesfaye, on all his social media profiles.
The move comes after vowing to 'kill off' his professional persona.
He had recently revealed his plans to drop the name after the release of his next album.
The Blinding Lights singer has been known as 'The Weeknd' for 12 years.
The four-time Grammy award winning artist previously revealed 'The Weeknd' originated from him dropping out of school, taking his mattress, leaving one weekend and never return home.
