A multi-million-dollar super yacht, Alfa Nero, was sold today by the Antigua & Barbuda government during an auction that was carried live on the state-owned television network.
The buyer, Eric Schmidt from the United States, paid $67.6 million, beating out two other bidders.
The yacht, valued at $81 million, was owned by sanctioned Russian oligarch Andrey Guryev.
The auction took place as the courts in Antigua and Barbuda denied an emergency injunction to prevent the sale of the yacht that had been moored in Falmouth Harbour for more than a year on the southern coast of the island.
