Bahamas Minister calls Meliá Nassau Beach resort's 2 year closure "double whammy" amid pandemic

Bahamas Tourism Minister Dionisio D'Aguilar says the two-year closure of the Meliá Nassau Beach resort amid the global COVID-19 pandemic is a double whammy for the country's tourism sector.

The resort announced it will close on March 1 to undertake renovations over the next 24 months.

Speaking with Eyewitness News after the announcement, Mr. D'Aguilar predicted it would be a rough ride for the industry until at least the second half of the year.
