Businesses urged to improve cyber security for themselves and customers

By Javaughn Keyes

Businesses are being encouraged to implement measures to help safeguard their personal and financial data, along with those of clients.

Gavin Dennis, Director of G5 Cyber Security says at this time of year, phishing and card cloning attacks are most prevalent.

He says while personal responsibility is important, there are some steps businesses must also implement, one of which is to "be educating their customers, to help them understand when communication from the business is legitimate."

In that regard, he stressed that "whenever the business identifies that some type of suspicious or fraudulent activity might be happening, which is targeting their customers, businesses should be proactive and let their customers know."

He added that each business must implement "good security," in order to "ensure that it's helping to keep customers safe when they're doing business on their website or coming into their company to swipe with a point of sale machine," and educate their customers, to help them understand how to stay safe, how to identify suspicious messages... and even fraudulent activities."
