Derrimon Trading restores most of its systems after ransonware attack

Derrimon Trading says it has restored 98 per cent of its systems after a ransomeware attack.

In a release Tuesday, the listed company, which operates the supermarket chains Sampars and Select Grocers, and brands such as Delect, says the network breach was detected on August 28.

It says once the attack was identified, its teams, in collaboration with external experts, were able to restore its IT systems within 48 hours.

The company says it is actively cooperating with law enforcement agencies to ensure a comprehensive resolution.

Derrimon's CEO Derrick Cotterell says only some businesses in its local operations were affected.

He says the hackers tried to get access to back-up data for point of sales and other systems, however they were intercepted.

No ransom was paid.

According to Mr. Cotterell, the cost impact was minimal, and no staff and customer data, including personal identifiable information, were compromised.

The news from the company comes days after the Financial Services Commission announced it was victim to a cyber attack.
