There is uncertainty as to whether Olympic discus champion Roje Stona, one of Jamaica's major medal prospects for the World Athletics Championship in September will be vying for a spot on the team at next week's National Senior and Junior Championships at the National Stadium.

There’s only one day remaining before the entries close at midnight on June 19. International stadium announcer and TVJ track and field analyst, Donald Smith is concerned about Stona's non- committment so far.

According to Smith, while some experienced throwers remain in the mix, Stona, if he participates and recent NCAA champion Ralford Mullings will be the hot favorites for the event next week. Stona has registered marks of 67.19 on June 9, 64.68 on June 15 and 66.84 metres June 17.

Up to sports time, Stona and his agent Robby Hughes did not respond to telephone queries from Radio Jamaica Sports as to whether the Olympic champion will be entering the national trials.

Live coverage of the National Senior and Junior Championships will be aired on TVJ, TVJ Sports Network 1spotmedia.com and Hitz 92 FM from June 26-29.
