Dr Nigel Clarke wants more Caribbean investment in renewable energy

Jamaica's former finance minister, Dr. Nigel Clarke, who is now one of the four deputy managing directors of the IMF, says the cost of electricity in the Caribbean is one of the highest  in the entire world, and as a result, there must be more investments in renewable energy.

In support of this recommendation, he has pointed to the steep decline in the cost of renewable energy in recent times.

Dr. Clarke is also calling for digitalisation of government and banking services in the region in order to reduce the cost of doing business and improving productivity.
