Although revenue was flat for the first six months of its financial year, newspaper giant the Gleaner Company managed to record a significant increase in profit.
This was achieved in part by a reduction in expenses.
Between January and June, the Gleaner earned $1.6 billion in revenue which was the same figure reported in 2009.
However, with cost of sales slashed by $34 million it was able to earn $65.5 million in net profit.
This was an improvement from the $12.3 million profit earned during the corresponding period last year.
