Gov’t to make announcement on Breezes Rio Bueno Hotel management issue

With three weeks to go before SuperClubs pulls out of the management contract, it is still unclear who will take over the operations of the Breezes Rio Bueno Hotel in Trelawny.

However, Labour Minister Pearnel Charles is maintaining that there will be no disruption at the hotel.

The 226 room resort is owned by the National Insurance Fund which falls under the Labour Ministry.

Mr. Charles said an announcement on the future management of the hotel will be made in due course.

“The hotel is owned by the National Insurance Scheme and so every step will be taken to preserve the investment and to give the workers their jobs and make it available for the tourism industry. We’re on top of it and we’ll make an announcement,” Mr. Charles said.

Last month SuperClubs said it was unable to reach a new satisfactory lease arrangement with the National Insurance Fund.

Chairman John Issa said despite lobbying Prime Minister Bruce Golding and Mr. Charles, an agreement had not been reached.
