There will be a shortage of Grace Vienna Sausages, frankfurters and other processed meats until the first quarter of next year because of the negative impact of Hurricane Melissa on the company's plant in Savanna-la Mar, Westmoreland.
GraceKennedy CEO Frank James said on Monday that the company will be working diligently to rehabilitate the plant by the first quarter of next year.
He also revealed that Hi Lo Food Store in Fairview, Montego Bay was damaged by the hurricane, adding that insurance assessors are currently evaluating the damage.
Mr. James said the company is currently conducting a fundamental re-examination of its infrastructure and operations in the wake of the damage done by the category 5 hurricane in order to improve its resilience.
