Twelve high powered guns
and over 700 assorted rounds of ammunition were seized during a massive
security operation at Port Bustamante in Kingston
on Monday.
Three suspects including a woman, all of St. Catherine addresses, are now in custody facing questioning in connection with the find.
According to Information Officer for Operation Kingfish, Detective Sergeant Jubert Llewellyn, intensive investigations led a joint police team to confiscate the weapons and ammunition which were concealed in an air compressor.
"The 12 guns comprising of two AK-47 assault rifles, two Dessert Eagles, one .44 pistol, one Mack-11 sub machine gun, one Glock pistol, one Smith and Wesson .44 revolver, one Taurus pistol, one Rugar, one Kel-Tec pistol and one Hessler and Koch 9MM pistol along with the more than 700 rouds assorted ammunition, 28 magazines and telescopic lens for sniper rifles were found," he said.
