Jamaica's Toni-Ann Singh passes Miss World crown to Poland

Miss World 2019, Jamaica's Toni Ann Singh, led Wednesday night's tribute staging of the 70th edition of the beauty pageant. 
 
The event, which has been hit by multiple delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, expressed solidarity with Ukrainians during a candle light performance, live from the Puerto Rican capital San Juan. 
 
The words "a prayer for peace" appeared on screen behind the finalists, as Singh performed a rendition of Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli's The Prayer
 
At the end of the night, Poland which shares a border with Ukraine, saw their contestant Karolina Bielawska being crowned Miss World 2021. 
 
USA's Shree Saini was placed second, while Olivia Yacé of Côte d'Ivoire took the third spot.
 
The official Miss World Twitter account stated that the pageant stands with Ukraine, following Russia's unprovoked invasion of the country.
