JMEA establishes Skills Advisory Council

The Jamaica Manufacturers and Exporters Association [JMEA] has established a Skills Advisory Council.

The stated aim is to help the agency develop a better understanding of the talent needed for its member enterprises, and the kind of support they need.

Kamesha Turner Blake, the JMEA's Executive Director, expressed her excitement at this development, characterising it as "pivotal for Jamaica."

"We look forward to the Government of Jamaica signing, very soon, an agreement with the IDB to continue to drive skills development, she stressed.

In that regard, she noted the recent appointment of a minister of Cabinet rank, with responsibility for Skills.

This, she said, reinforces the fact that this is an "opportune time" for the JMEA initiative.
