Officials from SandalsResorts International on the weekend unveiled major plans for a multi-billion dollar expansion project.

Adam Stewart, the Chief Executive Officer of Sandals Resorts International, revealed that plans are underway for the introduction of a total of seven new properties.

Mr. Stewart provided details at a function to mark the 30th anniversary unveiling of Sandals Grand Initiatives for 2011.

"The group is always developing what’s next, so we showed tonight five future expansions, we have seven on the drawing board. We have never gone into the Kingston market, we’re very advances with our Kingston plans (and) the Audi and VW dealership will be built on the Real Estate, Land Rover, Jaguar first. That project will like start in 2½ years because that phase of it, phase one, is to start the dealership first," he said.

Mr. Stewart is hoping that the Government will move to introduce an aerodrome in Portland to coincide with the planned expansion for Dragon Bay.

He noted that plans are far advanced for the 400 room Beaches Whitehouse.

The hotelier, who has taken over most of the day-to-operations from Chairman, Gordon 'Butch' Stewart, said in the end 3,000 jobs will be created.
