The Jamaica Public Service Company says 30% of the current power outages is caused by overgrown vegetation and it will be using technology to implement a better vegetation management programme.
President and CEO of the company Hugh Grant says it recently changed its approach to storm and hurricane management.
For instance, he says JPS has developed pre-storm models in order to estimate the potential damage before a storm or hurricane hits, leading to the employment of contractors on retainers in order to respond immediately to the damage which follows the weather event.
