One local fast food
franchise has announced increased prices due to what it says are several
factors impacting negatively on its operating costs.
Restaurants of Jamaica which operates the popular KFC franchise, is citing a six per cent devaluation of the Jamaican dollar, a 15.5 per cent jump in the cost of chicken meat, a 37 per cent increase in the cost of flour and major increases in the cost of fuel, as major factors prompting adjustments to the prices of meals.
Managing Director of KFC Jamaica Mark Myers, says effective Tuesday, prices at all outlets were increased by 10 per cent.
According to him, KFC has tried to hold off passing on the increase.
However, the upward movement in the cost of several key inputs combined with the downward trend in the purchasing power of the Jamaican dollar have pushed the company toward the price adjustment.
