National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited (NCBJ) has reported a significant surge in automated banking machine (ABM) activity during the peak holiday period from December 17 to 25, 2024.
The bank processed just under 631,000 ABM transactions, totalling $13.4 billion. This marks a 14% increase in transaction volume and a 22% rise in cash demand compared to the same period in 2023.
More than 25% of these transactions were conducted by non-NCBJ customers, highlighting the extensive use of the bank's nearly 300 ABMs across the island.
NCBJ says it maintained a 96% uptime for cash withdrawals during peak hours (6 a.m. to 10 p.m.), reflecting a slight improvement over 2023.
The bank revealed it replenished approximately $13 billion in cash during the week leading up to Christmas, with daily replenishments peaking at $4 billion between December 21 and 23.
