New banana chips factory to be built in St. Mary

A new banana chips factory will be constructed in Trinity, St. Mary.General Manager of the All Island Banana Growers Association, Donald Elevy says the factory will be constructed with funding from the European Union.

Construction should be completed by next March.
  
It will process up to 50,000 pounds of  banana and plantain weekly.
   
In addition to chips, the factory will also produce flour, pancake mixes and juices and provide direct employment for 24 persons.
