New MSME Alliance chief to meet with Finance Minister

New president of the MSME Alliance Antoinette Hamilton says she will be meeting with Finance Minister Fayval Williams shortly to discuss how the loan facilities at the Development Bank of Jamaica may be made more accessible to MSMEs.

She says she will be advocating for a reduction in bureaucracy and associated fees being charged by commercial banks which are approved financial institutions for disbursing DBJ loans.

Hamilton had signaled her intention to pursue this goal immediately upon assuming leadership of the MSME Alliance.

She will also be meeting with President of the Jamaica Bankers Association and Scotia Group Limited Audrey Tugwell Henry, to find out why commercial banks have been slow to respond to the 50 basis points cut in interest rates by the BOJ.
