The National
Housing Trust (NHT) is reporting that it paid out nearly $500 million (half a
billion dollars) in refunds between April and June this year.
Approximately $497 million in contribution refunds was disbursed to more than 23,000 contributors.
During the corresponding period last year, the NHT refunded $295 million to 22,000 contributors.
NHT refunds contributions fall under two categories - Special Refunds and Regular Refunds.
Special Refunds are made to retirees, some pensioners, migrating expatriates and agents of deceased contributors.
Regular refunds are made to contributors outside these categories.
