"Philipine fatigue" pushing BPO sector to consider Jamaica

Managing Director of Nearshore Americas Kirk Laughlin says "Philipine fatigue" is pushing players in the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector to consider Jamaica.

Laughlin told potential investors that Jamaica remains an attraction for his U.S. based company, because of its proximity to the U.S. mainland and English language capabilities.

He says those two assets make the island a high volume alternative to setting up BPO operations in the Philipines which is farther away from the U.S

“So It’s this Phillipine derisking “Phillipine fatigue”,having to send  your management over for 25 hour flights, 8-thousand dollar airfares , staying two weeks, away from their families etc   - and here, we left yesterday at 6:00am. and got here at 11:00 am, it was an 800-dollar airfare,  and I’m flying out on Friday,” he said.

Laughlin was speaking yesterday as part of a team of current players in the BPO sector helping Jampro to woo more investors.

Jampro is hosting potential investors to the sector introducing them to the current business opportunities available in Jamaica's BPO sector.
