Shaw to unveil economic policy next week

Audley Shaw, a former finance minister, has indicated that next week he will unveil critical areas of economic policy as he continues his campaign for leadership of  the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP).

Mr. Shaw made the disclosure on Thursday when he met with Kavan Gayle, President-General of  the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union (BITU) and other senior officials. Mr. Shaw told the BITU officials that he will also announce the establishment of  two task forces.

The BITU was founded by Sir Alexander Bustamante in 1938, five years before he also established the JLP. The two organisations retain strong links, with the union having a number of delegates who will be eligible to vote in the upcoming leadership election in the JLP.
