The JSE Index advanced by 1,536 points on Thursday, while the Junior Market Index advanced by 18 points.
The 51 stocks that gained ground were led by Sterling Investments USD, Proven Group, Paramount Trading, Caribbean Flavours and Fragrances and CAC 2000.
The 39 declining shares include Palace Amusement, Medical Disposables and Supplies, The Lab, Jetcon Corporation, and Key Insurance.
Twenty-six stocks ending trading at the same price they started.
