A high-powered weapon along with more than 50 rounds of ammunition was seized Monday morning during a police-military operation in August Town, St. Andrew.
The assault rifle and ammunition were seized during an operation at 19a August Town Road.
More than 80 police military personnel were involved in the operation.
It is reported that about 6:15 a.m., members of the security forces went into the community in search of a wanted suspect who goes by the alias 'Echo Blacks', a reputed top-tier member of the Jungle 12 gang.
The suspect was not seen at the premises, however, a search was conducted during which a Bushmaster XM15 assault rifle, fitted with a magazine containing 35.56 mm rounds of ammunition, was seized.
A further search was conducted of the premises and a black bag containing nineteen 5.56 rounds of ammunition and an empty extended Glock magazine with a 31-round capacity was found.
The firearm and ammunition are believed to be part of the Jungle 12 gang's arsenal of weapons.
No arrest was made in relation to the seizure.
The police say they are continuing their search for the suspect.
