Tourism Minister to meet timeshare stakeholders in Mexico

Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett is to attend high level meetings with key Timeshare stakeholders in Los Cabos, Mexico.

Los Cabos is one of the leading participatants in timeshare schemes, as a destination, as an investor and developer.

The Minister, who will leave Jamaica today, said the introduction of timeshare vacations is another way to diversify Jamaica's product mix.

Jamaica’s Timeshare Vacations Act officially took effect on May 1, 2016, providing unique opportunities for developers and buyers alike.

Timeshare allows several persons to jointly own a vacation property such as a villa or resort condominium.

Under this type of agreement, each owner is allowed to use the property for a fixed period of time in any given year.

Developers are now also able to build properties for use as timeshare accommodations.
