Apple iRadio set to launch this summer

Apple iRadio, the tech giant’s much-vaunted music streaming platform, looks set for launch this summer. That’s according music industry sources who say that Apple is desperate to get things moving.

Word is that Apple has made major headway in its discussions with two of the three major labels: Warner and Universal. Sony’s stance is unclear.

A source said, “iRadio is coming. There's no doubt about it anymore.”

Apple apparently wants to get iRadio up and running this summer. That would perhaps tie in with its planned launch of iOS 7 and its new iPhone 5S; both expected to be revealed in June or July. iRadio will target not only Spotify, but also Rdio and Pandora in the US.

Recent reports had suggested that Apple’s demands for low prices for streaming tracks was causing the service to be delayed. It now appears, though, that at least two record labels are ready to sign up.
