Vybz Kartel - book release in summer

Dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel says he will be publishing a book to be released in the summer.

Kartel says the book, titled "Voice of the Ghetto: Social Commentary For My People", has been in the making for over two years and has finally come to fruition.

The intended release date of the book is July 23 but it may be brought forward because Kartel thinks there is a move to discredit his book before it is even released.

Kartel told sources that the book is an in depth look at ghetto life in Jamaica through his eyes.

He said the book will explore taboo topics from incest and abortion to the high cost of justice in Jamaica . It will also tackle class and racial prejudice.

According to Kartel, Jamaica simply cannot and will not be the same after this book is released.

Bonafide to collaborate with Kartel

In the meantime, Las Vegas-based reggae band Bonafide will be coming to Jamaica this month to promote their single “Leaving Come the Morning” featuring Vybz Kartel.

The band plans to shoot a video with the popular deejay for the song.

Widely regarded as the most popular reggae band in the Las Vegas area, Bonafide has been on the reggae scene for nearly 20 years.

The band will be releasing their long-awaited CD, “Stay Strong” this year, which has several popular tracks including combinations with dancehall artiste Busy Signal, a high energy single called “Shake That Bumpa” and reggae singer Etana’s “I Want 2 Be the 1”
