The police in St. Elizabeth say they have nabbed two men who were found with a quantity of fake Jamaica 50 bills in their possession.
Charged with uttering and possession of counterfeit notes are 24-year old Richard Brown, and 18-year-old Brenton Wilkinson, both from Middle Quarters in St. Elizabeth.
It's reported that yesterday, the police were conducting spot checks in the New Market area when both men were stopped and searched.
They were found in possession of 18 one-thousand-dollar Jamaican notes, and 24 five-hundred-dollar Jamaican notes resembling the new commemorative Jamaica 50 notes.
The fraudulent thousand-dollar bills featured serial number W T 5 4 3 3 5 9, while the five-hundred-dollar bills bore serial number W R 4 0 3 5 4 3.
The two men were arrested and charged.
They're scheduled to appear in the Black River Resident Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
