Harland Fairweather, 97, the eldest child of the world's oldest citizen, supercentenarian, Violet Mosse Brown, has died.
Mr. Fairweather passed away at his home in Duanvale, Trelawny on Wednesday morning following a short illness.
He had celebrated his 97th birthday just four days earlier, and on Tuesday, in a brief interview with Lloyd Hinds, RJR's St. Ann correspondent, had proclaimed that he would wish to live to a hundred, even though he was willing to go "whenever God is ready to take me."
Mr. Fairweather's mother, Violet Mosse Brown, affectionately called Aunt V, became the oldest person on earth on Saturday, after the passing of the previous oldest, Italian Emma Morano.
Aunt V was born on March 10, 1900.
