The National Water Commission (NWC) says its teams have ramped up the restoration of water supply to affected communities across the country.

Acting NWC Communication Manager Delano Williams told Radio Jamaica News that 93 per cent or 508,000 NWC customers are now receiving water.

He said the focus is now on restoring water to communities in Clarendon, Manchester and St. Elizabeth.

"Remaining focus, which are quite critical for us because of the time concerns that now exist, are to a large extent just a section of nothern Clarendon, the southern section of Manchester and we are also focusing on pockets in St. Elizabeth. The Maggotty areas are now coming on stream and also some sections on the outskirts of Black River where we may not have full power or some kind of physical impediment still proving to be challenging to our systems," he disclosed.

Energy Minister Daryl Vaz told Wednesday's post Cabinet press briefing that he is pressing the NWC to fast-track its restoration efforts as several communities remain without piped water three weeks after Hurricane Beryl.
