Agriculture Minister Floyd Green says there have been major reductions in the prices of some fruits and vegetables
The Minister, speaking in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, said after last year's weather events, the market is stabilising with clear signs of recovery.
He said 70 per cent of vegetables reflected price reductions, with some by as much as 60 per cent.
Drought mitigation
Mr Green also announced that $134 million has been earmarked to provide water in order to alleviate the effects of the predicted dry period.
He said eight million dollars will be allocated for the provision of grass mulch to retain soil moisture and protect crops.
