Industrial action by ambulance drivers attached to the Kingston and St. Andrew Health Department have gone into a second day as promised, amid stalled payouts for overtime and retroactive payments.
The now-partial sick out, which started Monday, came in response to an apparent missed deadline given by the department.
Two employees have since turned up for duties on Tuesday following intervention by the Jamaica Association of Local Government Officers (JALGO).
JALGO General Secretary Helene Davis Whyte on Monday indicated to Radio Jamaica News that the union will be seeking the intervention of the Ministry of Labour and the ongoing dispute involving the ambulance drivers, who serve the Kingston Public Hospital, Bustamante Hospital for Children, National Chest Hospital and Hope Institute.
The workers say they were promised payment by July 4.
The payments have reportedly been outstanding since 2022, with the workers claiming they were previously promised payment in April.
An employee who spoke with Radio Jamaica News said the union has been slow in advocating for a resolution to the issues affecting the workers.
