American Airlines announces new routes

American Airlines announced Monday it will begin new service between Kingston, Jamaica and Fort Lauderdale.

The service will begin June 1, subject to government approval.

American Airlines says it will fly the route daily with its 148-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which feature 16 seats in First Class and 132 seats in the Coach cabin.

American's Senior Vice President, Peter Dolara, said the airline has served Jamaica for more than 31 years and is proud to continue to grow with this new route.

American currently serves Jamaica from Miami with three daily flights to Kingston and two flights to Montego Bay.

It also serves Montego Bay daily from New York-JFK and five times weekly from its Dallas/Fort Worth hub.
