Geovannie Skeen has been charged with the use of audiovisual communication to promote violence
A man is seen in a viral video making threats against his political opponents in the St. Elizabeth North East constituency on Nomination Day has been arrested and charged.
Superintendent Coleridge Minto, head of the St. Elizabeth Police, said Geovannie Skeen has been charged with the use of audiovisual communication to promote violence.
Mr. Skeen, otherwise called 'Mother Love', is a clothes vendor of Malborough in Balaclava.
Superintendent Minto says after the video was brought to the attention of the police, a targeted operation was carried out in Balaclava on Wednesday, where Mr. Skeen was seen and detained. He was taken into custody and charged.
In the video posted to his TikTok page, Mr. Skeen, clad in the colour of the People's National Party, declared that if his candidate of choice did not win in the general election, he would incite violence.
"You see if wi nuh win, we aguh tun di world inna Haiti... bare big matic and rifle," he declared.
Four candidates who were nominated to contest the St. Elizabeth North East seat. They are the incumbent Delroy Sloley for the Jamaica Labour Party,
Zuleika Jess for the PNP, Joseph Patterson of the United Independents' Congress, and Sean Myrie of the Jamaica Progressive Party.
