Another fire in an informal settlement; five left homeless

Fire destroyed a house in an informal settlement along the Mico Gully in Cross Roads on Thursday, leaving a family of five, including two children, with no immediate option.

The fire reportedly started shortly before noon and it did not take long for the flimsy structure to be destroyed.

Julian Robinson, Member of Parliament for South East St. Andrew, in which the settlement is located, said he would seek immediate assistance for the children, to ensure they are able to return to school.

The fire affected the functioning of some nearby businesses for a while.
