Military equipment valued at $38 million have been donated to the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) by the People's Republic of China.
The donation, which includes combat uniforms, helmets, boots, folding beds and ballistic vests were handed over during a brief ceremony at Up Park Camp on thursday.
Chinese Ambassador Jinghua Chen said his country is willing to persist in developing friendly relations, enhancing cooperation and achieving common development with Jamaica.
The JDF and the People's Liberation Army of China benefit from cooperative military programs, including staff exchanges, training courses and military assistance.
Thursday's donation was part of a protocol agreement signed between both forces in 2009.
