The Jamaica Labour Party has restarted the process of determining who will represent the party in the next parliamentary general election for the St. Andrew North Central seat.

It was revealed at Sunday's meeting of the party's Central Executive that the aspirants, Delano Seiveright and Christian Tavares-Finson had withdrawn their application to be the party's candidate for the constituency.

The seat is held by outgoing MP, 82 year-old Karl Samuda, who has been serving since 1980.

The party announced last November that Mr Samuda would not be seeking re-election.

He remains Chairman of the constituency as the party attempts to identify his replacement.

Senator Seiveright suspended his campaign last week amid escalating tensions over who should replace Mr Samuda.
