The five women charged in connection with the beating of 17-year-old Kaylan Dowdie in Barbican, St. Andrew in November 2020, had their bail extended until February 20, next year when they appeared in the Home Circuit Court.
Timone Williams, Nadine Aldridge, Shackeena McLeod, Yoland Vassell and Crysian Lewis made their first appearance in the High Court this morning.
The case was transferred from the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court in 2021.
The women are charged with wounding with intent and unlawful wounding.
Before this morning's adjournment, Ms McLeod's bail condition was varied for her to report to the police three times per week after her attorney Shamar Hanson told the court that his client lost her job and was experiencing financial hardship in reporting daily.
In the meantime, the court was told that defence attorneys in the matter had received full disclosure and that the matter could be set for plea and case management hearing.
But Ms Vasell's attorney Peter Champagnie KC told the court that Ms Lewis and Ms Aldridge were not represented.
Ms Aldridge was previously represented by Samoi Campbell and Ms Lewis by Richard Lynch, before the matter was transferred to the high court.
A mention date was subsequently set for the women to obtain legal representation.
Presiding judge Justice Vaughn Smith before extending their bail advised the women to settle legal representation as a trial date could be set when they return to court next year.
It's alleged that the five women beat the teenager until she became unconscious.
