Barbados is now under a hurricane watch as Tropical Storm Gonzalo moves closer to the Caribbean.
The advisory was issued Wednesday night by the Barbadian government.
Forecasters believe the centre of Gonzalo will approach the Windward Islands late Friday and Saturday.
According to the Miami-based national hurricane center, Gonzalo is the earliest seventh named storm on record, beating out Gert, which formed during the 2005 hurricane season on July 24.
