Prominent businessman Barclay Ewart died this morning at age 76.
RJR News was informed that Mr. Ewart collapsed while at the Constant Spring Golf Club in St Andrew.
Mr. Ewart also served as a former senator.
During his lifetime, he pioneered heavy chemical industry in Jamaica and was also known as a leading manufacturer of men's shoes.
He also served as Managing Director at the Alkali Group of Companies and was a Chairman of Dehring, Bunting and Golding Limited and CVM Television.
Mr. Ewart also produced several papers on Agro-Industry and Industrial Development in Jamaica.
