A grade 9 student at BB Coke High School in St. Elizabeth is in hospital with serious head injuries following a fight with another student on Thursday.
The altercation reportedly involved a boy from grade 11.
The injured boy has since undergone a brain scan.
Radio Jamaica News understands that the older child beat the other student after he accidentally stepped on his shoes.
The ninth grader was reportedly knocked unconsciousness during the attack.
The school says the incident is being investigated.
